Digipak Analysis

Digipak Analysis

This digipak for Awolnation's album has a futuristic style and is very different to what you would perhaps normally see on a stereotypical digipak. You can clearly see the idea that they were going for with it. That each panel represents a different place/climate on earth. The top left is snowy, antarctic climate, the bottom left is the desert and you can see the pyramids to portray this. The top right which is the front cover is the middle of the sea with the purple in the sky and the stormy seas. The bottom right is the rainforest and what looks like some sort of pirate anchor so maybe the caribbean - looking like a setting from Pirates of the Caribbean. Where the disc goes there is the moon and stars so that represents space and the galaxy. The colours of the disc are used on the front cover, so that links them together as they are the most important parts of the digipak. By using images like these, it allows a Sci-Fi theme to be used in their music videos.
As far as conventions go, we see a barcode, production label, track list and an insert. These features are, almost, expected in/on a digipak.
