Second Hot Desking Session
Peer Feedback:
Q.1
Do you think that there is noticeable
synergy between the three products, and how do you think this could be
improved?
There is a clear correlation between
all three pieces of your work. The quote used on the poster links directly with
the roads/’lanes’ in your digipak, which is a nice touch.
Throughout the 3 products I think there is a link through the use of black
and white as well as the types of shapes being formed. The advert and digipak
have a good link with their typeface and even imagery with the zebra since it
is black and white striped.
I like the idea of using the conventional
and easily identifiable ‘stars’ and ‘hearts’ placed on both the digipak and
poster. The gaps left white within these shapes look classy as they’re similar
to the model painting herself in your music video.
Definitely. The black and white theme is evident throughout. The colour images may make more sense if you were to implement shots like this in the music video, however aesthetically, I think that the promotional package works well as a trio.
Q.2
Do you think anything within the
promotional package is unnecessary or doesn’t really fit in with the theme?
I think the image of the waves is
nice and goes with the lyrics in its own right but perhaps changing it for an
image that is slightly different or mellow would be more eye catching like the
high angle shots of the lanes. Keeping it in direct correlation with the rest
of the digipak.
The products link well however I think the planned images with colour shot
high up might not link very well to the products and are questionable. The shot
of the sea could link because of the energy in the music which could be
emphasized by the energy of the waves.
Personally, I think you should
either incorporate the black and white within each other (i.e putting a
coloured image between the black and white to separate the colours). Or I
believe it would look better in black and white as it suits the poster and the
music production.
The colour images on the digipak. I think that all of the digipak images don't make much sense at this moment in time.
Q.3
What would you add to this promotional
package?
Both are simplistic in form, which
links with the video I think maybe some added text. For example a message from
the artist to the audience.
There could potentially be more text added to the inside panels of the digipak to give more information to the audience about something.
Perhaps you could add in an insert?
Or maybe a little message to your fans? Other than that I think it works great.
Possibly more quotes about the album or artist quotes. I don't think an insert is necessary, but it wouldn't look out of place.
Q.4
If you could change anything about
what is already in the promotional package, what would it be and why?
Just the image of the waves however,
it isn’t a big issue so leaving it or changing it doesn’t matter that much.
I like the use of images that are black and white that link to the black
and white video (the dice and zebra). I can’t really see the images of the
trees and cars linking with the products so maybe have images linking more to
the black and white idea but other than that the products link well
I would suggest to add in an insert,
and change the coloured images to black and white as it suits your promotional
package better. The stars and love hearts I believe is such a clever idea, it’s
my favourite part of your promotional package.
The colour stands out a little, so possibly changing those images to black and white, or adding naturally black and white images, like you have on the front side of the digipak. Obviously the poster needs to be A4 and not square, however I really like what is going on within the three items.
Upon reflection, I think that the feedback that I have received is extremely helpful. I know what I need to edit and adapt before my final pieces will be ready.
Upon reflection, I think that the changes that need to be made are:
1. Change the image on my poster, while still keeping the black and white synergy.
2. Change the colour images on my digipak to ones that link to the poster and music video.
3. Add more text to the digipak and poster.
4. Make the poster A4.
5. Add a new element into the music video to make it less boring.
